The Daylong Intensive Class

This class is a great way to get familiar with glass in a welcoming, safe, and fun environment. This class is one of the most hands-on classes we offer and will cover gathering out of the furnace, proper marvering and shaping techniques as well as color application, and safety. Students will make a paperweight, a flower, and several ornament/suncatchers at the very least, but will likely make more based on time available and how each member of the class progresses through the forms that will be covered.

This class is a great way to immerse yourself in glass making and to make objects of great beauty. Work is available for pickup the following week (we have to grind and finish the bottoms of your pieces).

The workshop begins at 10:00 am and goes until 5:00 pm and is currently available on weekends only. Bring a lunch, we have a variety of beverages for you, and water and gator-aide are included while you work.

Cost is $220.00 per person. Inclusive.

About the Instructor:  Parker Stafford began blowing glass at the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale while studying to receive his M.F.A. in Sculpture.  He continued both his sculpture studies alongside his glass study while there.  Parker has been blowing glass since 1994, and except for a seven year stint teaching Sculpture at Radford University, his focus has remained in glass since his graduation from SIU-C in 1996. Parker has taught glassblowing to hundreds of students, many who have never had any glassblowing experience.  Parker brings his enthusiasm for the medium to beginners in a way that is easy to understand and works one-on-one with all of his students regardless of class type.
