Parker Stafford

Fine Artist, Teacher, Sculpture, Designer

I came to glass by way of my studies in sculpture at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale while studying for my M.F.A, in 1994.  I designed studio equipment in 1997 in a building in Culpeper, Virginia, where I remained until 2007.  I moved the studio to Giles County in Southwest Virginia, where the studio is today.

Throughout my career in glass my focus has been on quality handmade objects that span both the decorative and sculptural.  During this journey I have had the opportunity to meet and work with some very talented people first as teachers, and then later as assistants and collaborators in developing new designs for a broad range of uses, including awards, sculpture, lighting, and home decor solutions.  My work has meant that I have designed for the U.S. government, home builders & designers, companies, foundations, schools, and individuals.

The studio is as much a production space as it is a place that you can visit to see work in our gallery and to watch glass being made on an almost daily basis. Our location means that there are many interesting things to see and do. Our county has one of the oldest rivers in the world winding its way through it with waterfalls, covered bridges, and beautiful vistas to delight the body and mind. Let us know if you are visiting our area, we would be happy to suggest the best our area has to offer!
